Paradís Sessions
A I R W H A L E S
Updated: Nov 9, 2020
When the winter in Reykjavík comes and brings along the darkness, the whole of the city lights up to cultural events, musical happenings and more.
For us, we had the great fortune of being involved in a new, pop-up music festival, the joyfully named A I R W H A L E S minifest. Joyful, because the name follows a favoured children's book from the late 80's Fallegi Flughvalur (or the 'Beautiful Flying Whale' in English.)
Supporting new music over the course of three days, with over 20 artists, bands and DJs performing in the reception-come-stage at Hlemmur Square, a downtown bar & hotel/hostel.
The atmosphere was electric from the off, with the audience filling the house - following, dancing, and singing along to every performance. The full line-up was superb, a brilliant promotiong of the Icelandic music scene and current happenings.
Noteworthy performances include Gugusar, Karítas, Ottoman & Salóme Katrín but all involved left something strong in our hearts, to take away. Check out the atmopshere below -
