Paradís at Mengi: A Great Night
Updated: Nov 9, 2020
After something of a hibernation from last summer, we relaunched the unplugged session series with a one-night special at arts space Mengi, in downtown Reykjavík. Sitting on Óðinsgata just a look around the corner from Hallgrimskirkja.
The room was full to see Elín Elísabet, Bagdad Brothers and MSEA (feat. Sunna Friðjóns) all perform live and totally unplugged. No amplification, no electricity. We like to champion the new music of Iceland - so not only were these artists new to Paradís Sessions, but they're also exciting, new artists on the local Reykjavik music scene.
It was a very moving evening, one that connected the artists to the audience in a way rarely experienced at gigs or other live music events.
Open, honest and entirely genuine - there was no space to hide, no reverb to cover up, we experienced everything: the mistakes, the enjoyment, the good and the bad - all the moments. Missed out on reading about the event? No problem, take a look here.
